WELCOME TO SECOND GRADE NEWS!

Fall is upon us, and it feels like January!! We are thankful that it has been sunny and the children have been able to play outside at recess. The Second Graders have been busy working in our new Reading Series, "Wonders" and in our new Math books, as well. The students are preparing to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time on Tuesday, November 18. All are really nervous and excited about this event!

Over the past weeks, the students have been very busy in classwork, but also within our school community. In October, we celebrated the Second Grade students, who will be making First Reconciliation at Family Mass. We had a visit from the firemen to celebrate Fire Prevention Week. The students celebrated Red Ribbon Week with a Rally and Parade around the neighborhood. Students also participated in a Food Drive for the local food pantries. Halloween was a special occasion too, as we had a Student Council sponsored Halloween party for all the students in Grades PreK-4. The children all had a great time--the little ones and the older ones!!

In the upcoming weeks, Second Grade will continue to work hard in their school work; Reading, Math, Spelling, English, Science and Social Studies, Handwriting and Religion. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is the high point of the near future, but the students are also studying about Thanksgiving beginnings and traditions within their own families. Report Cards and Parent Conferences will take place in a few weeks. After that, we will be into the Season of Advent. Students will be studying about the significance of this Season in our Faith. St. Daniel School will be having a Holiday Food Drive and Sharing Service to benefit the local area Food Pantries and Community Outreach Services. They will also be preparing to participate in the Christmas Pageant, which is the story of the birth of Jesus. Everyone is excited by these upcoming events!

Have a wonderful day!!
