REP_graphicOur Religious Education Program

The St. Daniel the Prophet Religious Education Program (REP) sponsors religious education classes and sacramental preparation for Parish children who attend public and private school, Kindergarten through 8th Grade. The purpose of this program is to proclaim authentically and fully the message of Jesus, to foster an understanding of and build community in all areas of life, and to encourage service to each other for the good of all. Children are expected to participate each year during elementary school.

Our Class Sessions

Classes meet in St. Daniel the Prophet Parish School on Sunday mornings from 8.30am until 10.00am, September through April. Classes are taught by women and men who are faith filled members of our parish family and have been trained to pass on our Faith to their students under the guidance of our Director of Religious Education.

Sacramental Preparation

Sacramental preparation require two consecutive years of participation.

First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion: Our First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion preparation programs are a two year program customarily starting in First Grade. Candidates celebrate First Reconciliation and First Communion in the 2nd Grade. Students in Grade 3 and higher who need to prepare for First Reconciliation and First Communion do so in a separate two year preparation program.

Confirmation: Our Confirmation preparation program is a two-year program starting in the Seventh Grade. Candidates celebrate Confirmation in the Eighth Grade.

Parent Involvement

Parents are the primary catechists of their children. Parents are expected to be involved in their child’s religious formation. Parents participate in a “Meet and Greet” to kick off our school year and parents attend special celebrations at Christmas and Easter time. Four times a year students and their families participate in a special Sunday Family Mass in which the students are invited to proclaim the Sunday Mass Readings, lead the Prayers of the Faithful, and bring up the Gifts of Bread and Wine.
